All candidates must attend a test session and pass the initial examination in order to participate in the hiring process. The entry-level examination is conducted once per month, typically on a Saturday morning. Preregistration is required for the written exam- visit Arlington County Jobs- Deputy Sheriff, and click on ‘apply now’ to apply. Once you successfully register, you will receive information on testing dates and times. Please note: A valid email address is required in order to receive correspondence regarding testing and the hiring process.
Advanced preparation/studying is not required for the exam and study guides are not available. Candidates should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time. The exam takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete. No late admissions. Must present a valid photo ID at the time of testing. Electronic devices (cell phones, tablets, PDA’s, cameras, etc) are not allowed in the Courthouse. They may be secured in the adjacent building for a nominal fee.
